The Bathroom re-do!

Well, so on memorial day I decided to re-do the bathroom....We were in much need of some more storage, So we got a cabinet and sink combo at the local home depot. Did I mention how much friendlier they are in NLR? oh my. Its worth the drive just to get good quality service without the attitude. They actually care about your needs as a home owner. Anyways....We wanted to get the espresso finish cabinet, however they did not have a cabinet that matched to go above the toilet. So we found a paint color that we thought matched, and some nice molding to go around the top and bottom to make it look not like a kitchen cabinet and whola! A new cabinet for 60 bucks less. When we started painting the cabinet we noticed that the brown looked more like a doodoo brown than the espresso brown in the cabinet, so I took some black paint and mixed up my own to make it darker. =) I'm very happy with how it turned out. I now want to paint the bathroom a sage green color. We will see. I included a before and after image.

Rain, Rain, Go Away!!!

May 2009 has proven to be the wettest May on record since the 1800's or something and we are just fed up with it!! Recently there was so much rain that fell so fast in a really short amount of time that our back room flooded. It was a bit of a mess, but thanks to my dad and a lot of hard work, we got the water out, laid new flooring and hopefully solved the problem so that if next May the rain comes back in full force, we'll be ready!! We are finally getting everything back in it's place and dried out so here are some pictures of our new flooring. We are excited with how good it turned out and just thankful the situation wasn't worse!

Kris Allen

We've always been fans of American Idol, but this year we have been especially glued to the tv on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to watch because of Kris Allen! Not only can he sing really well, but he's also from Arkansas! When he made the top 3 he came back to Arkansas for a couple of days to perform & we got to be a part of that! We went to Conway on Friday, May 8th to watch him perform at Simon Park and it was a great time! Here are few pictures from his performance! Next week we'll find out if he is the next American Idol!! I think he has a really good chance! GO KRIS!!

Our Birthday!

So I'm a little late posting pictures from our birthday, but better late, than never, right?! And yes, I said "our birthday", Sarah and I share the same birthday! Our birthday was on April 14th and we got to celebrate with Sarah's parents for the first time in a few years and we all went to dinner with my dad, mom and stepdad. We had a good time at Cock of the Walk in Maumelle and Sarah's parents got us our favorite cake from Mickey's, the best bakery ever!!!
The next weekend Tara, Becca, Steph and Katy made us a delicious dinner to celebrate! We hung out and played Rock Band (I was in charge of the foot pedal on the drums... a big job, but someone had to do it!) Thanks to our great friends for a great Birthday!

Out with the old... In with the NEW!!

As many of you know, over the past few weeks Sarah's car has been in and out of the shop. No one at any of the shops could figure out what was wrong with it. Some days it would start and other days it wouldn't. It even went through a phase where it would quit as we were driving down the street. Never a dull moment!! After having it "repaired" twice and the problem coming back, we made the big decision to trade it in and purchase a new one! We weren't sure how soon it would all happen, but we found a great deal in Conway and ended up buying it on Saturday!! A really big Valentine's Day present! It's a 2006 Nissan Xterra and only has 28,000 miles on it. It's in incredible shape and we are loving it!! We can't wait for our first road trip!

The Faux Fireplace. Before and After

Sarah decided to make me my dream faux fireplace after years of begging. It took less than a week, some lumber and a touch of white paint. I must say the finished product is more than I could have ever dreamed! It is... perfect! Now I'm begging Sarah to let me decorate for Christmas again... but she's not budging on that one! Ah well, I suppose I can wait for December. In the mean time, I'm brainstorming what I want to put over it or sit on it! How much fun!!!

Welcome Sloan and Calvin!

Well, the Austin family is now complete! The babies are beautiful and All is well with everyone! We are so happy to finally meet them both! They are gorgeous and perfect and just beautiful! We are so happy for you both and couldn't be happier to be a part of your lives! We love you!
