My day at work

What happens when your normal doctor's block gets released because he's out of town on a Thur's? General surgery..It was a rather busy day today...I did take time however to listen...It made me think and realize that every minute in your life counts. You should take the time to just listen to what people are telling you..Even if they don't utter a word. I think others are God's way of sending messages to us. I was touched and inspired today by a pt. Just by looking at this person today, you could tell all that she had endured and been through over the past 5 months I think is what she said. How can someone so sweet go through all this? She was all smiles and just so positive about everything. She was getting her infusaport taken out. That is a port placed in which chemotherapy can be given to someone with cancer. This lady just touched me...She had her port removed and still has to undergo radiation to shrink the tumor even more. I think she will beat this though..This has weighed heavy on my heart all day..It makes me think how precious life really is..Gave me a whole new meaning on it really. No matter how awful you feel, there is someone out there who is suffering and feeling worse than you are. It's the little things in life that matter the most and speak the loudest to you. Through others we learn the most. Take each day as it comes and make the most out of life, you never know what God has in store for you. I have attached a picture of what the port looks like so you can better visualize it being in a pocket under the skin for 5 months. In the center of the metal is where the chemo is given.

Our Latest Project!

On Sunday, August 3rd, we decided we needed a project... Amanda needed a new bookshelf to store all of her fabric on as her stash keeps growing! We headed over to an estate sale nearby and that's where we found this jewel! The bookshelf was tucked in a closet and somehow Sarah spotted it. We pulled it out and found a tag marked $25... however, when we looked around the house we noticed a sign that said everything was 60% today! Wow... as papaw would say, "What a deal... what a deal!" So... we paid our $10 and took our happy, bookshelf-ownin' selves home! Sarah got busy painting the new purchase and Amanda got busy refolding all of her fabric to get it ready for it's new home. Here are the before and after pictures.... aren't they lovely?! Organization is such a beautiful thing!
